AOTEAROA CROSSFEST
Aotearoa CrossFest is New Zealand's annual cyclocross festival, held each August as a two-day event combining the UCI-sanctioned New Zealand National Cyclocross Championships with a broader festival of racing open to riders of all abilities. The 2026 edition is hosted by Taupo MTB Club in Taupo, with the North Island School Cyclocross Championships on Saturday 29 August and the National Championships on Sunday 30 August.
CrossFest events do not require a race licence, making this one of the most accessible entry points to competitive cyclocross in New Zealand. The festival format sits alongside the elite national championship races, meaning recreational riders, juniors and masters compete in the same weekend atmosphere as New Zealand's top cross racers. The event includes novelty and mixed categories alongside the standard age-group races, and the festival atmosphere, with its cowbells, heckle zones and community spirit, is a hallmark of the CrossFest brand.
