The Central South Island Charity Ride celebrates its 21st anniversary as one of New Zealand's most impactful charity cycling events. This three-day adventure takes riders on a spectacular journey from Timaru to Lake Tekapo to Kurow and back to Timaru, combining challenging cycling with genuine community spirit. Since 2005, this event has grown from 56 riders to become a cornerstone of South Island cycling, raising over $2.5 million for local charities.

The route showcases South Canterbury's diverse landscape, from coastal Timaru through the stunning Mackenzie Country to Lake Tekapo, then to historic Kurow before returning to Timaru. Riders experience everything from challenging climbs to sweeping descents, all while taking in some of New Zealand's most spectacular scenery.

Riders are grouped based on ability and fitness levels, determined through mandatory training rides. This ensures everyone from experienced cyclists to social riders can participate safely and enjoyably.
