SA GRAND SLAM #5 ECHUNGA | GRAND FINALE
The SA Grand Slam #5 Echunga represents the culmination of Bicycle SA's premier road cycling challenge series. Moving past the shorter distances of the earlier rounds, this grand finale presents riders with a choice between two substantial open-road distances through the Southern Adelaide Hills. Participants converge on the quiet township of Echunga to test their endurance, tracking progress across the year or testing their baseline fitness on an exceptionally well-supported course.
As the fifth and final installment of the annual series, this event carries a distinct atmosphere of achievement. The series is deliberately structured to progressively extend the stamina of the community throughout the year. Because this is a non-competitive, fully supported open-road ride, the focus remains entirely on personal goal-setting, group camaraderie, and managing pacing over longer distances rather than racing for a podium position.
Whether opting for the single loop or committing to the full double-loop challenge, cyclists encounter a varied profile of rolling terrain, sharp climbs, and rewarding descents characteristic of the Fleurieu Peninsula and Adelaide Hills border country. The day delivers both a stern physical challenge and excellent road security, with marshals, support vehicles, and fully stocked refreshment stations positioned along the route to ensure a smooth, focus-driven day in the saddle.
