Hüttcross is Wellington's cyclocross series and one of New Zealand's most welcoming cycling events. Five Sunday rounds run through the Hutt Valley's parks from May to August, using some of the finest green space in Lower and Upper Hutt thanks to the support of local councils. The series draws over 250 riders per round across all grades, from kids on any bike they can find to A-graders on dedicated CX machines.

The format is simple: races are timed by duration rather than distance, so you know exactly what you are committing to. C Grade runs for 30 minutes and is open to any bike except e-bikes. B Grade goes 45 minutes. A Grade runs for 60 minutes and is restricted to cyclocross bikes. The Mighty Cross kids' race runs for 10-15 minutes and costs just $5. Families are actively encouraged to come along, spectate, ring cowbells and generally add to the chaotic, joyful atmosphere that makes cyclocross unlike any other branch of the sport.
