MOTATAPU MOUNTAIN BIKE
Location: NZ - South
Date: Saturday, March 6, 2027
The iconic Motatapu mountain bike event takes riders 47 km from Glendhu Bay on Lake Wānaka to historic Arrowtown, through the privately owned Glendhu, Motatapu, Soho and Glencoe Stations in the Queenstown Lakes high country (official event page).
The course follows a route once used by early Māori for hunting, gathering and carrying pounamu, later discovered by European explorers during the gold rush. It suits all abilities, with breathtaking views, river crossings, and a technical descent onto the Macetown Track before the finish (official event page).
An E-Mountain Bike category runs on the same course, and part of every entry fee is donated to the Queenstown Trails Trust for trail maintenance and development (entry fees).
