Experienced cyclists will find themselves challenged by the undulating terrain through Royal National Park and coastal climbs, with opportunities to push personal limits while surrounded by an inspiring cycling community. Since 1981, hundreds of thousands of cyclists have tackled this legendary route, raising over $33 million to support Australians living with MS. The atmosphere is electric, the support unmatched, and the finish line celebration at Wollongong's beautiful coastline is truly special.

The legendary route showcases NSW's most spectacular cycling terrain, beginning at Tempe Recreation Reserve and weaving through the pristine Royal National Park before reaching the coast. Riders experience the famous climb through Waterfall – the course's highest point – before descending to join the Grand Pacific Drive.

The coastal section delivers the ride's most memorable moments: sweeping ocean views from Stanwell Tops, the breathtaking Sea Cliff Bridge crossing, and rolling terrain through picturesque seaside villages including Clifton, Scarborough, and Austinmer. The final stretch into Wollongong offers stunning beach views before the triumphant finish at Thomas Dalton Park, Fairy Meadow.

New to This? The ride isn't a race – it's about personal achievement and community spirit. The course features gentle rolling hills rather than steep climbs, and extensive rider support ensures everyone can complete their chosen distance safely.

  • Fundraising Commitment: fundraising of $350 minimum is encouraged but not required

To Tempe Start (long course):

  • By Train: Wolli Creek Station (5-minute ride to start line)
  • By Car: 20 minutes from Sydney CBD. Event parking is not available, unfortunately. Riders must find street parking.
  • Location: Tempe Recreation Reserve, Tempe

To Engadine Start (short course):

  • By Train: Engadine Station with short ride to Preston Park
  • By Car: 45 minutes from Sydney CBD via Princes Highway. Event parking is not available, unfortunately. Riders must find street parking.
  • Location: Preston Park, Engadine

Return Journey: Special event train services operate throughout the day from Wollongong to Sydney, with your e-ticket included in registration.

Wollongong’s Thomas Dalton Park, Fairy Meadow, will host the event’s finish village and offers a scenic setting perfect for post-ride relaxation and celebration.

The nearby North Wollongong Beach provides a great spot to cool off, with cafes and picnic areas along the foreshore.

The Wollongong Botanic Garden and Nan Tien Temple, the largest Buddhist temple in the Southern Hemisphere, are both short drives away.

For those looking to extend their adventure, the Illawarra Escarpment walking trails offer stunning views, while the Wollongong Harbour and Breakwater Lighthouse are great for a scenic stroll.
