RADL GRVL established itself as a centerpiece of South Australia’s summer cycling calendar, bringing high-end gravel racing and riding to McLaren Vale and the southern Fleurieu Peninsula. Co-founded by Formula 1 driver Valtteri Bottas, professional cyclist Tiffany Cromwell, and the team behind Colorado’s SBT GRVL, the event ran in tandem with the Santos Tour Down Under, drawing an international field alongside local Australian riders.

Debuting in 2024 as an exclusive pilot before expanding into a multi-distance festival, RADL GRVL quickly gained prominence for its challenging blend of fast rolling vineyard tracks, steep climbs through the Mt Lofty Ranges, and iconic Australian dirt roads. In 2026, the event hosted the official Oceania Gravel Cycling Championships, attracting elite international professionals including WorldTour stars alongside hundreds of amateur competitors across multiple age categories.

Set on Kaurna Country, the course routed riders through world-famous wine regions, exposed ridges, and eucalyptus-lined dirt sectors. The start and finish village at Oliver’s Taranga Vineyards in McLaren Vale created a relaxed, festival-style atmosphere featuring local food, wine, and an active event expo, exemplifying South Australia's gravel scene.

While operations are paused for 2027, RADL GRVL remains a benchmark for gravel events in the region, combining competitive racing with accessible short-course options across the Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu region.
