The Carpark Climb is the most chaotic, most fun event on the Santos Tour Down Under calendar, and that is exactly the point. On Saturday evening of race week, riders from all walks of cycling life converge on Wilson Parking's East End carpark in Adelaide's CBD and race the clock up six storeys, one ramp at a time. It is a time trial in a car park, soundtracked by a DJ, narrated by an emcee, and fuelled by a bar and street food.

The event was first run in 2018, went on hiatus, and returned with a roar for the 2024 Santos Tour Down Under, regularly selling out its competitor spots. Past editions have attracted professional cyclists into the mix alongside club riders and enthusiastic amateurs. Spectators get in free, making it one of the most accessible and entertaining nights of the entire festival week. Whether you are racing or watching, it is loud, rowdy, and genuinely unforgettable.
