SHIMANO 100

Location: ACT
Date: Saturday, September 19, 2026

The Shimano 100 stands as one of Australia's most respected marathon events in mountain biking, drawing riders from across the country since 2010. Set against the backdrop of Stromlo Forest Park's challenging terrain, this event offers something rare: the chance to tackle over 75% of the park's trail network in a single race format that scales to every rider's ambition.

Whether you're chasing a personal milestone with one lap of the Challenge, building race experience across two laps of the Adventure, pushing through three laps of the Epic, or embracing the ultimate test with five pre-dawn laps of the 100 Miler, this marathon delivers a genuine measure of skill and endurance. The course's reputation speaks for itself – 27km of predominantly technical singletrack broken by strategic fire road sections, with 800m of climbing per lap, including the notorious "Casuarina Climb" that defines Stromlo's character.

The 100 Miler riders experience something special: a 5:30 am start that transforms the first lap into a sunrise journey through familiar trails, while the day distances offer their own rewards across perfectly spaced categories. This is mountain biking as it should be – challenging, rewarding, and shared with a community that returns year after year to test themselves against this iconic circuit.

Stromlo's "giant monster circuit" delivers 27km of varied terrain that showcases why this venue is regarded as one of Australia's premier mountain bike destinations. With approximately 80% singletrack, the course demands technical skill and strategic pacing across two major climbs and flowing descents.

The circuit begins with a warm-up climb through Fence Line and Evolution before the real work starts – a sustained ascent via Cockatoo Switch Backs, Blue Gums, Bobby Pin Climb, and City View to reach the course's highest point. Recovery comes on the technical descent through Tall Trees, Western Wedge Tail, and Brindabella to Deep Creek's lowest point.

The midpoint features Three Amigos and Missing Link before riders face the infamous Queen/King of the Mountain segment: the 2km Casuarina Climb averaging over 10% grade. Recovery sections on Skyline and Luge provide brief respite before Blackberry Climb, Blue Tongue, and the final technical challenges through Little Dingo, White Gums, and Ringtail.

The course concludes with Breakout, Muck Raker, and the satisfying cruise down Old Duffy Descent to the finish at village green. It's a circuit that rewards preparation while offering legitimate bragging rights to every finisher.
