SOUTHERNCROSS CX
SouthernCross CX is Canterbury's home of cyclocross: a six-round winter series held across Christchurch-area parks from May to August each year. It is one of the two Cycling New Zealand-affiliated cyclocross clubs in the country and regularly draws fields of nearly 300 riders per round across all grades. The vibe is deliberately inclusive, the racing is spirited, and the post-race food and coffee vendors make it a full family day out.
The series runs four grades per round: C Grade and K Grade (kids) for newcomers and families, plus B and A Grade for more competitive riders. C and K Grade welcome any bike at any pace, with head starts given to C and K grade riders in some rounds to keep the racing lively. A Grade requires a road-style bike. No cycling licence is required to participate.
